997: Upon awakening, both Laughing Bear and Moreau find that their magical abilities have been drained by the bite of the imp. Matthew and Mariam settle a dispute between two small children about their Shavrot wagon. Gwyn packs up and heads south with Hamish for her meeting with the Great Druid. The rest of the party goes back to Kesh-Nicht, meeting a druid on the way, with whom they discuss philosophy. They hole up at the Pit Prop for the afternoon, and Moreau and Laughing Bear feel their powers gradually returning. Dain tells the party he will lead them to the church by the "back way" himself, though it is obvious that his wife Bara violently disapproves. They pass through a tunnel under the inn, emerging into an overgrown garden, and wind through several alleys to the canal. Matthew distracts two nearby fishermen by inviting them into a tavern for a drink, giving everyone else a chance to slip over the side of the canal to the sewer entrance. He catches up as Moreau fails to magic open the grate that blocks the opening, forcing everyone to swim underneath. They follow Dain through a series of passages. A dead cat floating in midair is the only warning they have of a gelatinous cube, which they evade by scrambling up a narrow sloping passage. Dain brings them to an adoloescent dwarven hangout, complete with dwarven graffiti and dirty pictures drawn on the walls, and finally to a large gate that seems to be made of eight swords. Once the correct one is removed, the gate opens into the church basement, now used for storing, among other things, a statue of Margaret of Enki. SESSION 1: Party rescues 12 churchmen and 3 church knights. SESSION 2: Party fights off brass golem and 2 wraiths.
