Always Vigilant |
The house of Quotho has never been a lucky one. Perhaps their curse is to always chose the losing side, or perhaps they have simply never been ambitious enough; whatever the reason, no Quotho has ever emerged victorious from any of Landsrue's power struggles.
They are known for their straight dealing and absolute honor in all transactions. This has given them a curious status among the rest of the nobility. If two nobles are engaged in particularly tricky negotiations, and hostages are required, one or both may ask for a hostage from the Quotho family. The reason is simple: a Quotho's murder will always be avenged by another Quotho. It may take a year, or a decade, or a lifetime, but it will happen. A noble guilty of the death of a Quotho would be well-advised to update his will.
An amateur scholar, considered very learned, wrote several books on the
flora and fauna of Landsrue. Kept a large collection of preserved fishes
in his study. Married for love, and transferred his affections to his
only child Henrietta upon the death of his wife.
Medium height, sturdily built, with unruly black hair cut very short,
has a stride like a man's but can act the lady when she wants to.
Author of several books on traveling.
